Otoplasty (ear surgery)

Otoplasty changes the shape or position of the ear. AVANT lists four types: earlobe cleft repair, pixie ear correction, prominent ear correction and correction of lying ears, which sit flat against the head and are hard to see from the front. The operation takes 30–90 minutes under local anaesthesia or sedation (clinic guidance).

How it works at AVANT

  1. Examination of the ear type
  2. Surgery
  3. Stitch removal (timing being confirmed with the clinic)

How long to stay in Seoul

The stitch-removal date is being confirmed with the clinic. For about two weeks, sleep on your back or on the side that was not operated on, so the ear is not pressed (clinic guidance).

Risks and side effects

Reported complications after prominent ear correction include bleeding or haematoma, infection, wound-healing problems, problems with the stitches, scarring, pain or itching, and the ear moving back (recurrence) that needs revision.
